The purpose of the Business Strategy and Policy course is to familiarise students with the globally applicable concepts of strategic management, as it relates to corporations in small, open developing countries. This course builds on the notion that the present global environment is characterised by intense competition among corporations. To this end, the conceptual theme that drives this course is the ability of developing-country corporations to develop business strategies that will allow them to achieve international competitiveness.

This course offers students the opportunity to develop a general management perspective by combining their knowledge of specific functional areas with an appreciation for the requirements posed by the need to integrate all functions with a coherent whole. This course seeks to develop skills in total enterprise management, and takes a global perspective on strategic management, recognizing current and future environments in which organizations operate.
