This course provides an introduction to the problems, issues, themes, theories and main ideas of the sociology of tourism. It is intended to provide basic facts about tourism globally and regionally with a special emphasis on tourism in developing countries so as to enable students to adopt a scientific approach to understanding tourism and how it impacts the social milieu Tourism and Development lays the foundation upon which further academic work in the sociology of Tourism can be built.
