BOSS (Bursary Online Student System) and ASRS (Automated Student Request System) are easy and convenient systems made just for you. They are easily accessible and are at your fingertips.

Come, sit, EAT and listen to how to use these systems and how they will benefit you.

The launch of these online systems will take place:

The MITS team would like to take this opportunity to introduce you to the UWI Mobile Portal!

Initially, this portal will allow you to:

Check the courses you are registered for in the current semester
Check your active OurVLE courses
Get a list of upcoming events from your OurVLE courses (including assignments, chat sessions, quizzes and workshops)
Check the number of days before your domain password expires,......all from your mobile device.

You can access the portal via most modern cell phones, PDAs and Smartphones. Look-out for a beta version within the next few weeks.

End-of-Semester Update

As we wind down the current semester and look forward to the next, the MITS team would like to thank you, the UWI staff and students for your continued support in the administration of OurVLE, the Mona Campus Virtual Learning platform. We had some challenges with certain attributes of the platform, including the speed and the capabilities of the quiz module. These were universal to the MOODLE community and directly related to systemic software issues. MITS has made significant additional investments in new server hardware and software. And the MOODLE development team has assured us that the next release of MOODLE (Ver 1.9) is significantly faster and includes numerous updates to the quiz and other modules. (For those who don't know, OurVLE is a re-branded version of MOODLE). As soon as this version is released and we've done and are satisfied by our internal testing, we will consequently upgrade OurVLE.

Though we expect this version to be more stable, we still rely on you, our customers, to report any bugs or otherwise strange behaviour in OurVLE that you may encounter. Reporting these issues is essential to the continued development and improvement of MOODLE itself, and, in turn OurVLE.

LIBRARY OPENING HOURS EXTENDED

Opening hours of the Library are being extended as of November 12, 2007.

NEW OPENING HOURS

Main and Medical Libraries

- Monday – Friday 8:30am – 6:00am

- Saturday 8:30am – 12:00midnight

- Sunday 12:00noon – 8:00pm

Overnight Reading Room

- Saturday 12:00midnight – Sunday 6:00am

- Sunday 8:00pm – Monday 6:00am

Opening hours for the Science Library and the West Indies and Special Collections remain unchanged.

Remember to verify the timezone selected in your profile. OurVLE uses a default timezone for Jamaica; if you change this value, the times for course events will be automatically changed to reflect this.

To check your timezone, simply click on your "edit profile" tab. This will launch your personal profile and allow you to modify your timezone. The default timezone should be "Server's Local Time".
