This course introduces students to theories and processes of management and their application in library and inormation units and to the delivery of information services.

The course is not confined to library students. Students from all disciplinary backgrounds are welcomed to pursue this management course, allowing for those who may wish to be information entrepreneurs to be exposed to management issues for information services such as genealogical research services, publishing companies, book store operations, or new Web information retrieval and research services. The course provides students who wish to be managers with the management techniques, the theoretical framework and orientation for thinking about the future of information services, and how to allocate resources to the pursuit of the mission of getting the right information to the right user, in the right format and at the right time.
