Libraries have traditionally been regarded as  "storehouses for information" . In the modern environment, the convergence of information and communication technologies has affected and changed the way information is created/ produced; organized; preserved/stored  and communicated / disseminated.

These changes have  affected the way modern libraries  operate  while acquiring, organizing and making information available to  clients.

In responding to the changes, challenges have  arisen.

New issues  surface that  have to be addressed ,new demands from " tech-savvy" users  have to be met and new procedures and ways of doing things  have  emerged .

This course explores these 'Trends and Issues" and their implications for Librarians with particular reference to the Caribbean.
