This course surveys the emergence of nationalist thought in the Caribbean from the Creole and enslaved population proto-nationalisms in the 18th and 19th
centuries, through the anti-colonial and ethnic nationalism of the late-19th and early-20th
century, to the radical and Pan-Caribbean nationalism of the late-20th century. It also explores the emergence of the federal idea in the region.
