This course introduces students to the disciplined approaches that are applied to the management of Information Technology (IT) projects, for alternative delivery modes (building, buying, and outsourcing) software intensive systems and other infrastructure products. While project management has been a recognized field for many years, managing Information Technology project requires concepts and information that go beyond standard project management. The course will address both theoretical and practical aspects of IT project management. Students will encounter several project management techniques that are applicable to a variety of IT project contexts and be exposed to the project management body of knowledge (PMBOK) as a basis for considering the management elements and challenges involved in managing IT projects. The course content is defined by week-by-week schedule of topics towards the end of this course outline.
