Spanish as a foreign language is crucial to the Caribbean region's development as communication is essential for survival in the global marketplace. The knowledge of Spanish as a foreign language increases capabilities in diplomacy, world trade and in human understanding since language learning enhances cognitiveand social growth, provides an awareness of contrasting cultural concepts, and sensitizes students to the differences between their own culture(s) and those of the Hispanic world. Students who have had exposure to knowledge of Spanish language and Hispanic cultures can assist communities of the world in becoming more interconnected and interdependent.
