This course explores the field of public relations and encourages a critical analysis through practical and theoretical examination of both the local and global environment in which it is practiced. The course also stresses the importance of planning and allows for an ongoing evaluation of situations /issues and how these influence the selection of audiences, messages and the formulation of communication campaigns to achieve desired results.

 

The importance of research; the identification of the various elements of the public relations plan, including evaluation, are also areas of emphasis. Students will also examine the influence of modern information – communication technologies on the practice as well as the rudiments of working with the media.

Students will be exposed to the principles of writing, desktop publishing, oral delivery and other practical applications and are encouraged to develop the necessary skills through constant practice over the semester.
