This 9-credit course takes an in-depth look at the structure and function of the central nervous system, i.e. the brain and spinal cord. It also introduces you to important diseases affecting the central nervous system, the methods used in investigating patients, and the treatment modalities employed, including pharmacotherapy.

The study of the brain and the spinal cord is often perceived by students as one of the most difficult areas to master. We hope that this course will help to dispel that perception.

In understanding neuroscience, knowledge of basic anatomy and physiology of the nervous system is much intertwined. Structure & function compliment one another and the learning of these is enhanced by teaching input from pharmacology, pathology, and the clinical disciplines.
