Technological and regulatory changes are driving unprecedented growth in the media and communications industry, creating new business opportunities for small businesses and individuals.  The shift to digital distribution platforms has increased access to new audiences and markets, while the shift to digital production has lessened the content development and production costs across all media.  A plethora of small businesses have emerged to take advantage of these opportunities and traditional media companies are being forced to change their business models to adapt to the new market conditions and increased competition.  The success of these players will depend on their ability to identify, evaluate and execute profitable ideas for media products and ventures.

CARIMAC graduates who enter this environment face an unprecedented array of choices - joining an ever-increasing number of media companies, both within the region and beyond; or creating an entrepreneurial venture of their own design.  As such, all CARIMAC graduates must have the theoretical and practical skills to evaluate the business worthiness of a media venture and to develop a thorough business plan for a product or company.  This course is designed to provide both a theoretical foundation on entrepreneurial issues in media and the practical experience of developing a business plan for a specific media-related product or service.
