This course builds on the core principles of anatomy and composition covered in ANIM1002 - Drawing for Animators and ANIM2012 - Perspective and Composition. It is designed to expose students to the practical experience of drawing and painting as it relates to layout for animation. The layout process involves the conversion of the storyboard into a format that the animation team can use. Students investigate issues relating to visual storytelling including continuity, scene planning, blocking, camera movement and staging. Drawing and painting fundamentals such as composition, perspective, structure, line, tone, colour theory and texture are applied to character design and concept art.
