GEND3600 provides learning opportunities to: understand the linkages between gender and development concepts and theories, sexual and reproductive health and rights and HIV/AIDS; the global, regional and national governance framework to promote gender equality, sexual and reproductive health and rights; gender-sensitive strategies to reduce HIV & AIDS; as well as skills and tools used to conduct gender analysis and to mainstream gender in HIV & AIDS policies and programmes. The course also exposes students to: relevant research, policies, laws and programmes being used to address problems such as unplanned pregnancies, gender-based violence, HIV infection; analytical tools to critique relevant policies and programmes and to make recommendations to support commitments to promote gender-sensitive, rights-based approaches to HIV & AIDS as well as sexual and reproductive health.
