Foreign language is crucial to a region's development as communication is essential for survival in the global marketplace. The knowledge of a foreign language increases capabilities in diplomacy, world trade and in human understanding. Language learning enhances cognitiveand social growth; it provides an awareness of contrasting cultural concepts and sensitizes students to the differences between their own culture(s) and that of others. Students who have had exposure to knowledge of other languages and cultures can assist communities of the world in becoming more interconnected and interdependent. SPAN 1001 Spanish Language IA is the first course of the two for level I language in the Spanish Major. This course is designed to bring students with CAPE level to an Intermediate/ Upper Intermediate level of proficiency in Spanish as a Foreign Language. This level is correspondent to the B1 Independent User in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
