The purpose of this course is to expose participants to research related to the teaching and learning of science in order that they develop critical awareness and a comprehensive understanding of the research being conducted in science education and the issues that arise form these research. This exposure will help participants to develop an awareness of the gaps in science education research both regionally and internationally. Participants should therefore be in a position to identify areas of interest and need for conducting research and hopefully be motivated to undertake to fill some the gaps identified as they contemplate their MEd project.
The course is designed so that participants will draw from knowledge obtained in previous courses in research methodology to analyze and critically appraise research being examined. There will be some amount of flexibility to allow participants to address issues that are of interest to them.
