The course in Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology culminates the students learning in the discipline of pathology. Having covered the general and systems pathology in their pathology lectures in their first two years, this course will provide the students with further specific knowledge and understanding of oral diseases. The clinical and histological features of these diseases, along with how the different diseases are diagnosed and managed are imparted to them. Included in the course is the pathogenesis and prognosis of these diseases. The oral manifestations and implications of these diseases are also included. This course assists the students in developing their critical thinking skills such that they will be able to differentially diagnose oral manifestations of diseases such that they will be better able to develop more specific treatment plans for their patients.
