Welcome back to our formal class. Of course as you all are aware Covid 19 came rapidly upon us and, have certainly re-positioned us and has put us all in a new mode of operation. I know that you are experiencing anxiety and fear in some cases but please know that the University is doing all it can to facilitate a successful ending of this course and semester.
First, l would like to register the fact that l really really missed you and the rich, robust and rigorous encounter we shared. I hope that while we are experiencing physical distancing, that you all are safe and are in good health and well being.
Secondly, let me share with you a semblance of the plan that we have in mind to complete Semester 2. As you already know, we were a little past the mid point of our Course EDTL1021. We are now about to complete the course virtually via OURVLE. All necessary guidelines and activities will be posted in this environment. You are required to visit the course container frequently and to respond appropriately.
To summarize the status of the Course :
I. You have already submitted Portfolio Entries 1 and 2.
2. In the already formed groups, you are now supposed to be creating a Unit Plan and one lesson plan for Micro Teaching.(More will be said about this)
3. Arrangements re the Mid Semester test are being made. The institution is not supporting any form of test in this climate. Therefore an alternative assessment activitiy will be considered. More will be said later.
4. Portfolio Entry 3 will be a lesson plan which you will create individually based on the unit your group created, using anyone of the instructional models you learnt. This should include an explanation of the model along with how it should be implemented.
5. Portfolio Entry 4. You will be given a video re classroom management which you will view and the analyse.
6. Portfolio Entry 5. This will be your personal evaluation of your learning experience and achievement.
AND HOORAY!! YOU ARE DONE.
Don't panic. You will not be left alone. I will offer guidance through OURVLE.
Looking forward to working with you.
