This course is designed to lead the student systematically through a body of conceptual and theoretical ideas in the policy sciences. It brings together and examines a range of perspectives within the public policy discourse such as rational choice, institutional and relational approaches. It acknowledges the import of value issues and social meanings to politics and policy making and as a consequence introduces relevant normative frameworks as alternative approaches to understanding these processes.
