RATIONALE:

Many of the persons who operate in Early Childhood leadership positions graduate to the position because of experience at the field level - caregiver, teacher, nurse and the like - or because they have received advanced training in one of the technical areas related to Early Childhood Development.They have not been exposed to, and for the most part have limited knowledge of management principles and practice, especially in the area of strategic management and structured leadership. This area is especially important given that the Early Childhood sector is an emerging one, whose eventual fate within the Caribbean socioeconomic framework will be determined by the extent to which it can be appropriately positioned in these early years. This course in Strategic Management in Education is engineered to bridge the gap in the knowledge of management principles and practice for early childhood practitioners.
