Introduction to Healthcare Informatics

This is an introductory course in Health Informatics, the field which deals with the use of Information Technology in health and medicine. You will be introduced to health information systems and health technology, as well as to best practices and principles in the application of information technology to health and medicine. While you will be introduced to some of the basics of computer technology, what you should try to get from the course is the way in which technology is applied to, and becomes beneficial to, health and medicine. Like everything else, information technology has its disadvantages and challenges when applied to health and medicine—you should bear these in mind as you go through the course.
