Spanish for Medical Purposes

Within the linguistically diverse Caribbean and Latin American region, and the world at large, medical students are likely to encounter patients and medical practitioners who are Spanish speakers. This intensive course will give The UWI medical students the opportunity to better prepare themselves to perform within this intercultural context. The course has been specifically designed for medical students to acquire the foundational skills for a subsequent immersion in a Spanish-speaking country. This course will allow students to interact verbally and in writing with Spanish-speakers in the medical context, by equipping them with the necessary communicative competence at the beginner´s to elementary levels of Spanish (A1-A2) and the appropriate medical vocabulary.
